How To Stay Focused On Your Goals During Thanksgiving

On average, we will consume more than 4,500 calories and 229 grams of fat during Thanksgiving Day.

Yes, believe me I totally understand how delicious the turkey is, your Momma’s pie, and that Martha Stewart sweet potato recipe, but listen, those calories can quickly turn into excess pounds if you aren’t careful.

What does this have to do with personal branding? Everything.

When you know you are not feeling and looking your best, you shy away from your true potential. When your suit feels extra tight, you feel self-conscious and your clients will notice. You can’t rock your brand in 2015 if you are feeling guilty from splurging during the holiday season.

We buy from people confident in their abilities and their ideas. We buy from people who let their inner light shine out into their outer bodies. So if you go overboard this Thanksgiving and the holiday season, you will be paying for it down the line.

How do you enjoy Thanksgiving and all it has to offer while also getting rid of the guilt that comes with it?

Here are a few ways to stay focused on your goals during the Thanksgiving break:

  1. Meals with fewer calories.
If you are the one in charge of the cooking, you already have an easier job since you are in charge of how many calories are in each meal. If you are buying things from the store be sure to read the labels so you know exactly what you are putting in your body. Extra sugar and calories can sneak in by accident if you aren’t paying attention. If you’re not cooking, offer to bring a meal or two to help out the host. This way, you save them more work and you also get to bring a meal that will help your waistline. It’s a win-win all around.
  1. Sign up for a fitness class.
Most gyms have discounts around the holiday season for people preparing for 2015. Demonstrate that you’re a leader and you care about your health by signing up early. When you take charge of your life, this demonstrates to the people around you that you are a go-getter and you will do anything to stay on top of your game.
  1. Savor every single bite.
Make sure to snack every so often during Thanksgiving Day. Not eating all day and then splurging during the main course is a guaranteed way to overeat. When you do finally eat dinner, focus on enjoying every single bite. This will help you slow down, enjoy every second and really be in the moment. Also be sure to appreciate the people you are with and the joy they have brought to your life. That is more filling than any food you’ll eat.
  1. Spend time thanking everyone in your life.
This applies to not just your family, but also your customers, clients, friends, people in your industry, and anyone you simply want to say “Thank You” to.Take some time to pick out or design some branded Thank You cards. Write a personal note to everyone you want to thank this year. This will not only remind people of your time together and how much you have helped them, but it will also put the whole holiday season into perspective.

Once you take advantage of these useful tips, your only concern this Thanksgiving season should be what head turning outfit you’ll be wearing to your holiday festivities.
